Volunteering & Dogounteering
Volunteers are essential to enabling the doggies in our care to live as best as possible while waiting to be re-homed.
Santa Barbara Animal Help does not have its own kennels and prior to adoption either uses help of kind fosters to care for the doggies or keeps them in a Pet Hotel, with good facilities.
While they are in the hotel, the SBAH volunteers walk the doggies twice a day so that they get their daily dose of exercise and sniffing, but also socialise with them and at times take them to the beaches, parks, Mar Shopping Centre and many other places to introduce them to new experiences and make their lives nicer, while waiting for adoption.
If you feel that you have even a couple of hours a week or can only come and help with any of these activities occasionally, please, get in touch because we always need lots of help.
If you have a dog at home that is good at socialising, (s)he could be of great help to the rescues to teach them what humans can't, which is all those subtle signs and ways of communications that only they know. On the other hand, if your furry-friends feel lonely, dogunteering could be a great entertainment for them.
