Maya, one of the Bucket-family! She came to us, was snapped after we first published her on Facebook and we thought that it was a match made in heaven, but she returned after 4 weeks ... Maya is a sweetheart, who previously survived on the roads of the Algarve fending for herself with her pack, being nice to humans that fed her, but was also used to chasing cats, so needed training not to continue with such a behaviour and to learn not to go for a stroll on her own. She needed time to become a home doggie … but unfortunately the human that she fell in love with at first sight, didn’t have enough time to teach her any of it and returned her to us after 4 weeks… Needless to say, the poor sweetheart was bewildered, so much so that she didn't want to eat for hours ... We've been there, done that and now after a couple of months working with the volunteers, she's a happy dog that she once was. We are determined to find her a 10-star home that she deserves because, Maya is very friendly with other dogs and humans, spayed, vaccinated and negative to all usual tests, could easily live in an apartment if walked regularly or in a house with a secure garden so if you have a big heart and would like to give lovely Maya a forever home, let us know!
