About Us
Santa Barbara Animal Help was formed by Susan and Evelyne in 2016 to help abandoned animals in Santa Barbara de Nexe in the Algarve, Portugal.
Santa Barbara Animal Help, Algarve is a small charity that does not have its own kennels, but either organises fostering or pays for the doggies' stay in a lovely local pet hotel. Those in the pet hotel are regularly walked and cared for by the volunteers.
Over the years, a group of volunteers have assisted many dogs from the area that have needed to get back on their paws and find a new forever home.
The dogs that come to our care, are all brought to the vet for a check-up, given any necessary medication, vaccinated, microchipped, sterilised and if they need socialisation our volunteers make sure that they gain trust in people.
